Jenny Nob Shelter campsite to Wipiti Shelter campsite - 14.5 miles hiked today - 618.2 total AT miles hiked to date.
Today marked the completion of the Old Testament in my daily Bible reading/listening. While it has been very interesting and filled with gems of wisdom and enlightenment, I confess that I am glad to have it done. I’m ready to move on to the Gospels and letters of the New Testament, and the full glory of God revealed through Jesus. I expect that this part will be a much easier read, as I am very familiar with most of it already. My challenge will be to listen/read with new eyes and ears to hear what God wants me to hear through the scriptures.
Packed up and got an early start today (7:15!), aiming for another 15 mile day. The elevation and terrain today was very mild for the most part, consisting of gentle ups and downs, tree shrouded green “tunnels”, blooming flowers, and sweeping views. We spent most of the day following the Dismal Creek, crossing over it many times, including once over a suspension bridge.
I had lunch at the Dismal Falls, one of the most restful and serene spots I’d ever seen. I stayed there for an hour soaking it in.
Finally moving on, the rest of the afternoon mirrored the morning trails and I arrived at our destination around 4. Set up camp, had dinner, and was in my tent by 6:30. Some light rain fell early evening, but had moved on by sunset.
Tomorrow is a short hike into Woods Hole where we will be spending the night (including an organic dinner and breakfast the next morning).
Until next time...
