Day 165, Wednesday August 11, 2021

Little Swift River Pond campsite to Reddington Stream Campsite - 12.8 miles hiked today - 1980.8 total AT miles to date

Today we climbed back above the Alpine line as we were back into the 4000 ft mountain range.  The day was overcast and foggy for most of the day, limiting our views.  We climbed up and over Saddleback mountain and the Horn, both 4000 ft peaks well above the tree line.

We stopped for lunch by another Alpine pond where a canoe had been left for anyone’s use.  I guess they’re not concerned about someone trying to pack the canoe back down the mountain.

While the climbs and descents were challenging, once on the ridge we were able to make good time, and arrived at our planned stopping point by 5pm.

Tomorrow we have two very steep climbs.  It’s supposed to be sunny and hot, so hydration will be key, with multiple water stops planned.

Until next time…
