Day 138, Thursday July 15, 2021

Clarendon shelter campsite to Pico ski slope campsite - 12.9 miles hiked today - 1700.3 total AT miles hiked to date

Passed two milestones today.  We reached the 500 miles to Khatadin marker and the 1700 mile marker.  Only 492 miles left.

The day was again sunny, with no afternoon thunderstorms this time.  We spent most of the day climbing, ascending more than 3800 feet total, and cresting the 2nd tallest mountain in Vermont, Killington Mountain at 4000 feet.  We had to face a quarter mile sheer rock climb to the top, but the view was worth the effort.  We then hiked on to the Pico ski area where we camped on one of the ski slopes.

Tomorrow we will be staying in a state park and heading into the town of Killington for a resupply and some hot food.

Until next time…
