Day 143, Tuesday July 20, 2021

Zero day in Hanover NH

Spent a much needed day off of the trail.  Went into town this morning to pick up a package at the post office (mostly my winter gear for the climbs ahead).  Also did a resupply to carry me for 4 days to the next town access.

Did a little sightseeing around the Dartmouth campus before heading back to the hostel around noon.  Once there, I spent some time cleaning and drying everything in my pack, hoping to avoid the total immersion of the past few weeks going forward.  The rain chances are lower over the next several days, so we are anticipating better hiking conditions.  The Whites and Presidentials are coming up, so need to be physically and mentally ready for the challenges ahead.

Late in the day, the Vintage Hikers showed up at the hostel and plan to zero here tomorrow. It was good to see them again.  The shuttle back to the trail leaves at 9 am tomorrow, and we’ll be back at it.

Until next time…
