Stealth site to Story Spring shelter campsite - 12.3 miles hiked today- 1633.0 total AT miles hiked to date
I don’t know why I am surprised when God so obviously answers prayers, but I confess that I often am. I do want to thank those who sent encouragement and additional prayer my way. It is appreciated.
Today’s weather, terrain, and muddy conditions were no different than the past few days, but God made His presence known to me in such a practical way today, that my discouragement of the last day or two is completely gone. Today, as I approached each stretch of muddy bog, I noticed a string of stones protruding from the mud in a line, allowing me to tiptoe across each mud pit unscathed. This happened over and over. Maybe not God parting the Red Sea, but I was not being sucked down like a fleeing Egyptian over and over. It may be that He just opened my eyes to see that relying on Him to get me through was where I needed to be. Lesson learned.
The trail itself offered little in the way of scenery, although I was able to climb the Goddard tower during a break in the rain. Cool views of nearby mountains covered by rain clouds.
I met up with Pinot once I reached the shelter, and expect the others to catch up tomorrow.
Until next time…
