Day 46, Wednesday April 14, 2021

 Ezekiel 1 - 48

Hurricane Shelter campsite to Partnership Shelter campsite- 19.1 miles hiked today - 534.1 total AT miles hiked to date.

Another varied and eventful hiking day.  Woke up anticipating rain, but it was clear and cool.  The terrain was looking to be relatively moderate with only a few significant climbs as we were dropping into a couple of gaps and then had to climb back to the ridge line.  The morning passed quickly and we arrived at our planned lunch stop 9 miles in by noon.  We had seen varied trail vistas including open range, meadows, valley views, and green tunnels (overhead trees filled with greenery)

Early on we had to take a designated detour as a bridge across the local river had washed out.  We ended up having to walk up a 2 mile Forest service road before rejoining the trail..

After lunch, as we crossed a road
we were met by a trail angel with some trail magic!  Taking a brief respite, I enjoyed a Blood Orange Grapefruit sparkling water, some pretzels, and added some Skittles and power bars to my food bag.  Feeling refreshed and invigorated, I headed out to tackle the next 10 miles or so.
By 5:30 we’d reached the Partnership Shelter, our destination for the night.  This was a deluxe shelter adjacent to a Forest Service visitor center, which allowed for us to order pizza delivered. We had a Hawaiian pizza sent.

Tomorrow we head to Atkins for an overnight at the Relax Inn for a shower and laundry, as well as a hot meal at the local Mexican restaurant.

Until next time...
