Day 128, Monday July 5, 2021

1st, 2nd, and 3rd John

Dalton, MA to Mark Noepel shelter - 14.1 miles hiked today - 1585.9 total AT miles hiked to date

Today was a great day for hiking with temperatures in the low 70s, low humidity, and dryer trail conditions. Tomorrow will be more like rain.

Dalton mid-morning, I walked through town, passing a pet pig in a front yard and then back into the woods.  The trail meandered past a couple of ponds, up and over Crystal mountain and the Cobbles, a scenic overlook of Cheshire, before descending down into town.

The trail goes right through Cheshire and I stopped at a roadside takeout stand and had an early dinner of a meatball sandwich.  From Cheshire the trail leads out of town and starts climbing immediately, gaining 1600 feet by the time I reached the shelter.  More climbing is on tap for tomorrow so calling it a night early and getting an early start tomorrow.

Until next time…
