North Mt Wilcox shelter campsite to stealth site near the Mass Turnpike - 15.0 miles hiked today - 1552.9 total AT miles hiked to date
Today was much cooler, as all of the rain has dropped the temperatures significantly. Unfortunately, the trail was all mud today, making for slow going again. I hiked most of the day with Topo, another recent retiree from Pittsburgh, He’s on a section hike to Vermont.
A few nice views today as I climbed Cobble Hill and Baldy Mountain. Lots of tricky creek crossings, swollen by all of the recent rain. Shoes, socks, and feet were wet all day. I did get some trail magic at a road crossing and enjoyed some donuts and fruit punch.
Passed the Upper Goose Pond late in the day and ended up stealth camping about a mile past. More rain for tonight and tomorrow so more wet hiking ahead. As they say, “No pain, no rain, no Maine”.
Until next time…
