Day 106, Sunday June 13, 2021

ZERO day in Delaware Water Gap - still 1296.2 total AT miles hiked to date.

What a difference a day makes. After spending the night behind the church last night, we got up and headed over to the bakery for breakfast (sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on raisin waffle bread and a cheese danish - delicious!).  From there, I went back to the hostel and attended the 10 am church service along with 6 other thru hikers.  It was a very traditional  (Presbyterian) service, followed by a social hall gathering with lots of food. Russell (Pinot’s husband) surprised us and showed up after the service.  With him there, we had transportation.  I had medicated my torn up feet, and wore sandals for the day so was happy not to have to walk far.  Russell drove us to Walmart for a resupply, to a couple of outfitters for some gear needs, and to lunch at an Irish pub.

For the afternoon, we were dropped back off as Pinot and Russell headed to the Hampton Inn for the night.  Anvil, Matt and I took care of minor laundry needs and generally relaxed for the afternoon.  This evening we went to a noodle bar for dinner, and then packed it in for the night.  Tomorrow we’ll have an early lunch and hit the trail by mid day for 7 - 10 miles tomorrow.  Rick is now only 16 miles behind us, so should catch us in another day or two.

Until next time…
